Course type 1: Travel and return - posting in a foreign culture Understanding Culture has got several years of experience in course planning for staff which has been posted to a foreign country. In this course, we focus on cultural aspects of life abroad and how to manage the new daily challenges during the period of stay. The
following topics are always part of the course: Body language, dress code,
intercultural communication and negotiation. In addition, topics are chosen
in agreement with the customers needs - different topics are relevant
for different types of business and organisations. Course type 2: International negotiations The development of global technology such as the Internet makes it easier for people to stay in touch globally. In our daily work we can now easily contact our partners abroad. Business and organisations which have daily international cooperation can improve their international working relations by making staff participate in training courses offered by Understanding Culture. In this course we focus on the cultural differences at stake when negotiating with people with a different cultural background. In other words, even though we meet and wear the same type of suit there is no guarantee that our minds work along the same lines. This
type of course will be planned closely together with your business or
organisation.
Role play is a funny and challenging method of learning. Understanding Culture designs role plays where participants can test their ability to negotiate and understand different points of view. Conflicts
and events from the daily work of participants will be part of the role
play. The
role play takes its point of departure in a conflict or problem from the
real world of your business or organisation. Understanding Culture offers lectures, where creative and musical aspects are promoted. African musicians will teach their traditional dancing and drumming. Dancing, performing theatre and musical exercise is a nice tool to create a happy atmosphere and better team spirit. Participants are doing something new and different together. The
course is designed to fit into staff parties and social activities. Understanding
Culture gives talks and lectures on cross-cultural cooperation and
many other topics. -
