Understanding Culture believes in a positive encounter between different cultures - we can foresee problems and most conflicts can be mediated.

Understanding Culture offers courses, guidance and lectures to business and public organisations who would like to improve their international relations.

Our courses and role plays are designed to make the participants start their mental preparation for the cultural encounter. The aim of training and rehearsals is to improve the understanding between people with different cultural background.


The person behind this company

Mrs. Rikke Haugegaard is the owner of the consultancy firm Understanding Culture. She is trained as a cultural anthropologist with additional studies in educational psychology from the University of Copenhagen.

Understanding Culture is a new firm starting to get a wide range of customers. Already, courses in Cultural Awareness are held regularly at the Danish Army Logistics School, the Danish Police Academy and the course centre of the Danish Emergency Management Agency.
Among customers are also public high schools and other educational institutions.

Working experience has been obtained in the following countries: Denmark, Finland, Ghana, Latvia, Switzerland, Sri Lanka, Sweden, South Africa, Uganda.

Previous experience as project leader in the Danish United Nations Association for the Nordic Model UN 2000 - an interdisciplinary university course and conference with 200 participants.

Experience with international project development from the Danish Ministry of Housing.

Previous experience with exchange programmes Denmark-Ghana.
